England Women’s striker Beth Mead said she was honoured to be nominated for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.
Speaking before winning the award, Mead said she watched the awards show on English television whilst growing up.
Currently injured with an ACL, she said her main focus was to get back on the pitch as quickly as possible.
England Women’s head coach Sarina Wiegman praised Mead, saying she is a great character and team player.
Aside from football, England cricketer Jos Buttler was full of praise for Ben Stokes, after a tremendous 2022 for the team.
