Football finance expert Kieran Maguire believes spending money to improve your squad in January could prove to be effective for clubs looking for new owners at the end of the season.
Maguire, who is the author of ‘The Price of Football’, says if strengthening in key areas leads you to seal a UEFA Champions League spot, then that could be money well spent as your club would be more attractive to suitors.
Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly the subject of interest, and Maguire thinks the difference in selling your club could well be qualifying for the Champions League, because of the revenue that comes with it.
