Cathy Engelbert TALKS about what Brittney Griner’s RETURN to the US MEANS for the WNBA.
WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert expressed her delight at the release of Brittney Griner from a Russian prison.
The two-time Olympic gold medallist, who was punished for possessing cannabis oil, was used in a prisoner swap with arms dealer Viktor Bout.
Engelbert was thankful to the State Department ‘for getting her home’, and added that the WNBA will still support ‘wrongly detained Americans’.
The commissioner also said that she and the WNBA will give Griner time to adapt to life back in the US, but will continue to support her.
