Yaya Toure speaks out on the lack of black representation in Premier League management.
Yaya Toure insists he is ready to take the step into management despite Patrick Vieira’s sacking at Crystal Palace shining the light of a lack of black representation at a coaching level.
Vieira lost his job after a 12-match winless run, leaving the Eagles 12th in the table but three points above the relegation zone.
Toure, currently coaching at Tottenham Hotspur, did have concerns, however, because the Frenchman’s sacking means there are no black managers in the Premier League.
Also speaking at the Football Black List in London, Premier League winner Wes Morgan and former West Ham defender Anton Ferdinand echoed Toure’s sentiments.
Brentford director Deji Davies, the only black board member at a Premier League club, believes the Vieira sacking has highlighted the issue but hopes for change.
