Didier Drogba HAILS women’s football for ‘fighting for their RIGHTS’.
Football legend Didier Drogba praised women’s football for ‘fighting for their rights’ and learning how to live in a ‘men’s world’ ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Drogba, an ambassador for the tournament, said it’s a ‘pity’ TV broadcasters didn’t offer as much money for rights packages for the women’s tournament compared to what they offered for the men’s.
British broadcasters are believed to have paid €9million, eight per cent what they paid for the men’s World Cup, with Italy opening with a bid of €300,000 euros compared to the €160million they paid for the 2022 tournament that they didn’t even participate in.
The Ivorian added that he’ll offer support and guidance for people, if needed, after hailing the games’ ability to compete with the numbers it attracts inside stadiums.
